The latest patch also brings Ranked Season 8, changes to tank items, a new Wild Pass, a Lunar New Year theme, and other exciting content coming your way!
Get ready to add some spark to your Wild Rift game with the arrival of Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight, and Zeri, the Spark of Zaun.
Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight
Experience the magic in the land of Runeterra with Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight. Zoe is known for her unpredictable playstyle as she brings a host of powerful abilities to the battlefield, including Paddle Star, which throws a missile that can be redirected in flight and deals more damage the farther it travels. With her Spell Thief ability, Zoe can steal enemy spells and enchantments, giving her an edge in battle. Her third ability, Bubble, Zoe can put an enemy to sleep after a delay to gain the upper hand. Zoe can use her Ultimate Portal Jump to blink to a new position and then back again when things get intense. Whether Zoe’s teleporting across the map, sniping enemies from afar, or stealing spells from her opponents, she is a formidable opponent on the battlefield.
Zeri, the Spark of Zaun
This agile marksman is all about speed and mobility, with the ability to gain bonus movement speed when she receives a shield and dashes onto walls for a quick escape. Zeri’s attack style is unique, as her attack works slightly differently than you might expect. When you tap the attack button, Azeri fires in a direction and damages the first enemy hit, just like a skill shot ability. And with her electrocute and ultra-shock laser abilities, Zeri can slow down opponents while extending the range of her attacks. Zeri can use spark surge for dashing forward and powering up the next attacks when things get tough. Her ultimate lightning crash can shock nearby enemies and gain stacks of overcharged for increased movement speed and bonus damage. Pick up Zeri, and you’ll be zipping and zapping across the Rift in no time, spreading cheer and tons of damage along the way!
The Wild Rift team also focused on improving the game’s late stages, specifically by increasing opportunities for comebacks while maintaining the fast pace of play. They are adding a mechanic called inhibitor to respawn, which allows players to continue the game after an inhibitor is destroyed, and a mechanic called turtle limit, which increases the urgency to push advantages or come back from disadvantages in the later stages of the game. These updates are aimed at creating more exciting and climactic games. The team also plans to continue improving specific roles in future patches.
Tank item changes
Patch 4.0 is bringing significant improvements to the tank experience, including new and improved shopkeeper stock to help you dominate the battlefield.
New – Dawnshroud
If you’re an aggressive tank support looking to get ahead, the Dawnshroud item is your go-to choice. This powerful item activates a passive that damages and reveals nearby enemy champions when you immobilize a champion, and the effect will also trigger if you are immobilized.
Rework – Randuin’s Omen
Randuin’s Omen is also getting a new passive that gives you stacks when a critical strike hits you, and consuming these stacks by attacking a champion will heal you based on the damage you took. This is replacing the old passive, which reduced damage from all critical strikes, and now you’ll need to attack to make full use of the damage reduction, rewarding good decision-making as a tank player.
Rework – Frozen Heart
Frozen Heart is also changing, with basic attacks and spells applying stacks to your target that slow their attack speed up to a cap. These stacks can also be gained by attacking or hitting you or your allies with spells. With a stacking debuff instead of an effect with constant uptime, the impact of the Frozen Heart will be more noticeable overall.
All Random Ultra Rapid Fire Mode returns
The All Random Ultra Rapid Fire (ARURF) game mode returns to Wild Rift, allowing players to queue up and play a randomly chosen champion with enhanced spells. In this patch, there is a new feature called Execute Smite. If you play as a jungler, smite will now be a passive effect rather than an active ability. When you damage a monster and its health falls below smite’s total damage, the spell will automatically trigger, smiting the camp for you. There is no cooldown for this effect, so you won’t have to worry about wasting smite or blue bars when you meant to use it on a dragon.
New milestones to track your progress as a master of the abyss, plus a role leaderboard to compare your role score with your friends and see the top players for each role in your region, have been added. The best players will receive a special title. The team also adjusted how role scores work by resetting them at the start of a new rank season and giving players a boost based on their past season performance to help them reach even greater heights.
