VALORANT Episode 6 Act 3

VALORANT Episode 6 Act 3 brings in the new Bind, Agent nerfs, and the much-awaited Premier Global Open Beta that gives players a firsthand experience of what it’s like to be their heroes in the competitive scene. We’re also getting new sprays and skin lines from the latest Battle Pass, so don’t go anywhere because we’ll run over everything VALORANT 6.08 has in store for you.

New Battle Pass

The new Act just dropped last April 25, 2023, and the new Battle Pass that comes with it showers us with lots of dapper-looking gun skins and player cards, and adorable buddies and sprays to add to your collection.

Like the previous ones, this Battle Pass costs 1,000 VALORANT Points, which is around 10 USD. Players can activate it to unlock three new skin lines:

  • Bound: Bulldog, Judge, Phantom, Classic, Melee
  • Monstrocity: Ares, Sheriff, Spectre, Vandal
  • Moondash: Frenzy, Guardian, Marshal, Stinger

The player cards drop new hints and some glimpses into our Agents’ personal lives to make the VALORANT lore richer, while the lovable sprays give us a chuckle with their meme references.

Radiant Entertainment System skin bundle

Need a little boost to top those leaderboards? Maybe you need a little breather with the Radiant Entertainment System. This new awesome-looking skin bundle features console-themed designs, and its animations are a feast for the eyes. At 11,900 VALORANT Points, this bundle jazzes up the Phantom, Operator, Bulldog, Ghost, and Melee while treating our Agents to fun mini-games during their downtime.

Premier Global Open Beta

Players vying for glory can also test their skills with Premier, VALORANT’s newest competitive system. Premier allows players to form teams of 5 to 7 and compete in weekly matches and, eventually, a regional tournament. For now, Regional Champions only win exclusive titles and player cards, but since this is Riot’s attempt to discover new talent, this could also be the players’ ticket to the big leagues.

We’re excited to know budding VALORANT teams and their stories, so rally your teammates and try Premier!

Reworked Bind

Bind is returning to the active map pool in VALORANT 6.08. The rework changes gunfights in the A Lobby and A Bath areas. The teleport spawn is now nearer to A Bath, making it easier and safer to use. B Site now has a window towards B Elbow, allowing for some flashes and Jett Updraft (Q) plays.

Changes and improvements

Gekko

  • Wingman’s (Q) plant and defuse audio cues are improved.
  • Gekko’s in-game portrait is updated for better readability and quality consistency.

Killjoy

  • Nanoswarm (C) reveal radius increased from 350 to 525.
  • Nanowarm’s audio cues are updated to give more feedback.
  • Removed the yellow UI indicator during Lockdown (X).
  • Deactivate sounds for Killjoy’s Turret (E) and Alarmbot (Q) are now more distinct.

Shorty

  • The default Shorty and the following Shorty skins are getting a design upgrade: Wunderkind, Sidekick, Karabasan, Prism II, and Doodle Buds.

Map rotations

  • Bind replaces Icebox in the active pool for Competitive and Unrated queues.

Bug fixes

  • Removed the “Kick ally off” prompt when defusing the Spike.
  • Fixed the bug where the Spike progress bar speeds up or resets.

Social

  • Fixed a bug where chat logs would be deleted after a match.
  • Fixed a bug that displays party invites even when they are no longer valid.

Conclusion

With Killjoy getting substantial nerfs and the reworked Bind being added back into the map pool, it’s interesting to see what kind of strategies this patch will give birth to, especially now that we have Premier to bring new talent forward. I’m also curious about which cosmetics are actual hints to the next Agent. If the Monstrocity player card means we’re getting another cute minion like Wingman, I’m all for it!
