VALORANT new agent KAY/O is out to eliminate radiants with suppress ability

Robots have played a significant part in video games. Over the years, these mechanical beings became iconic allies (and nemesis) of gamers. There’s Clank (in Ratchet and Clank), Titanfall 2’s BT-7274, Pathfinder from Apex Legends, and even the Sentinels from X-Men. Riot has just added to that robot list with the release of KAY/O, the newest agent in VALORANT.

KAY/O made his VALORANT debut in Episode 3 Act I. As the latest Initiator, his sole purpose is to eliminate radiants. This war machine can suppress enemies by neutralizing their agent abilities. And if that’s not cool enough for you, his ultimate allows his allies to stabilize his core and revive him. This murder-bot is locked and loaded to become a major headache in the game. Time to know more about this new agent and what he brings to the battlefield.

KAY/O’s abilities are composed of the following:

KAY/O’s main ability allows him to throw a suppression blade to the first surface it hits, exploding upon impact and suppressing anyone caught in the radius of the explosion.

Equip a flash grenade that explodes after a short fuse, blinding anyone in line of sight.

Sling an explosive fragment that sticks to the floor and explodes multiple times, dealing near-lethal damage at the center with each explosion.

KAY/O’s ultimate overloads him with polarized radianite energy that empowers and causes large energy pulses to emit from his location. Enemies hit with these pulses are suppressed for a short duration. If KAY/O gets killed while overloaded, he enters a destabilized state, allowing allies to revive him.

KAY/O’s strength lies in the fact that he is the only agent who has the ability to suppress enemy abilities. It’ll be interesting to see him neutralizing the Jetts (and how a Jett ally can actually revive him to that effect). Feeding him with information (like enemy location) will be crucial to dish out his suppress mechanic. Imagine rendering enemies useless without their abilities to help them. This killer robot will bring back VALORANT players to their FPS roots, so always carry your shooting A-game.

Will he shake up the current VALORANT meta? We’ll know soon enough.
