A new act is here, and you know what that means—fresh content, new strategies, and plenty of opportunities to reach Radiant. Riot Games has dropped a dazzling update with the introduction of Waylay, a new agent that will see you climbing the ranks at a light-speed pace. In this article, we’ll have a quick look at her abilities and playstyle, this Act’s jam-packed Battle Pass, and an Ascent map tweak bound to ruffle some tactical feathers. Let’s dive in!
New Agent: Waylay
Waylay hails from the Land of Smiles, Thailand, but she’ll gladly turn your smile into a frown if you’re on the opposing team. She takes the spot as Agent 28 in the VALORANT Protocol, and as a Duelist, she’s here to upset the status quo with her faster-than-lightning skills. Neon mains are trembling!
Waylay’s Abilities
Saturate (C) – Waylay throws a cluster of light that explodes upon contact with the ground. This skill hinders nearby players, slowing down their movement and attack speed. It’s the perfect way to counter Odin spammers.
Light Speed (Q) – Allows Waylay to dash forward at the speed of light: press Fire to dash forward twice and Alt-Fire to dash once.
Refract (E) – Creates a beacon of light at Waylay’s current location. Use this as her Get Out of Jail Free Card and press E to fall back quickly to the beacon’s location. It works similarly to Yoru’s Gatecrash, so always remember to use it in team-controlled areas.
Convergent Paths (X) – Equips and releases Waylay’s prismatic power. It projects a beam of light that gives her a powerful speed boost and slows down enemies in the area.
Waylay thrives on quick and oppressive site takeovers. Her abilities allow you to apply a highly aggressive playstyle with little risk, thanks to her signature, Refract. Her kit could push teams to rethink their positioning, making site executes more unpredictable and defenders second-guess their holds. Expect to see coordinated plays where Waylay’s disruptive utility forces rotations, opening up the map for aggressive pushes.

Map Change: Ascent
Say goodbye to one of the most infamous wallbang spots in the game—the B Main wall along B Lane is now non-pennable. Defenders have long relied on this tried-and-true tactic to shred attackers before they even set foot on-site, but now? You’re going to have to hit your shots the old-fashioned way.

How Will This Affect Ascent Games?
Without easy wall bangs, Defenders holding B Main must rely more on utility and aggressive peeks. Expect more Killjoy, Cypher, and Viper setups controlling the space with their gizmos.
For Attackers, this is a big win. They can now push B Main without constantly fearing a hailstorm of bullets. More aggressive rushes and early map control plays will become the norm here. This small tweak levels the playing field, making B Site less of a Defender-favored stronghold.
VALORANT’s Season 2025, Act 2 brings exciting changes that will delight both casual fraggers and meta abusers. Will Waylay’s swift moves shake the meta? Or will the old Duelist kings and queens still prevail? Feel free to share your newfound big-brain tactics in the comments, and don’t forget to top up your VALORANT Points only through Codashop.
