Genshin Impact Weapon Origin
Genshin Impact is full of formidable friends and foes, legendary warriors who shaped the Teyvat we know today. Their fascinating tales echo in every corner of the seven regions, serving as a catalyst that helps unfold the lore. As fascinating as these tales are the weapons they are carved with–instruments of unspeakable power forged and perfected by Teyvat’s finest. In this article, we’ll uncover the origins of five 5-star weapons to understand their place in the game better.

Mistsplitter Reforged

Genshin Impact Mistsplitter
Mistsplitter was one of the many weapons the Raiden Shogun had bestowed on his high-ranking officials. It was given to Takamine, a famous martial artist and the Shogun’s Hatamoto or flag-bearer. He was last seen during the cataclysm, fighting the dark forces swiftly like lightning. Wave by wave, he fought fiercely, but in the end, he was overwhelmed, his sword shattering into a thousand pieces. After the war, the Shogunate reforged his legendary sword as a testament to Takamine’s bravery.

Jade Cutter

A ceremonial sword made from pure jade, the Jade Cutter was forged by the Geo Archon, Rex Lapis, as a gift for a close friend and a symbol of peace and prosperity. The sword, however, didn’t fulfil its purpose, as he had no choice but to wield it during the Archon War, ultimately becoming a poignant reminder of sacrifice and duty.

Wolf’s Gravestone

Genshin Impact Wolf's Gravestone
Andrius, the Wolf of the North, was once a free-spirited wolf who fought alongside a decorated knight. His Anemo and Cryo powers, which were bestowed to him by an ancient god, helped free Mondstadt from Decarabian’s rule. From then on, the nation saw peace, so Andrius chose to leave the mortal realm, leaving behind his spirit to watch over Mondstadt.

Andrius wasn’t the most friendly to humans, but he did form a bond with a knight he once fought with. This Knight of Favonius was the one who laid the wolf’s body to rest in Wolvendom, laying a claymore as his gravestone.

Staff of Homa

In the olden days of Liyue, a plague struck, claiming the life of thousands. To cleanse the victims’ bodies and souls and help them enter the afterlife, people performed fire rituals with the Staff of Homa. After being passed down from generation to generation, the staff now finds its place in the hands of Hu Tao, the 77th Director of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.

Memory of Dust

Genshin Impact Memory of Dust

A stone puzzle that contains the memories of the late Goddess of Dust, Guizhong. She’s the closest ally of Zhongli, and if you think her name sounds familiar, it’s because she was the brilliant engineer behind the Guizhong Ballista we fought Baiqu with in Version 1.1. This goddess was particularly fond of humans, and her gentle nature made the humans adore her in return. Unfortunately, she met her demise in the battle of Dihua Marsh and Guili Plains, which eventually sparked the Archon War.

With each weapon’s tale, Genshin Impact enthrals players with gripping gameplay and a sense of purpose and attachment to their characters and the world they inhabit. These legendary weapons serve as powerful tools and storytellers, narrating the grand saga of Teyvat’s past. The significance of weapon lore goes beyond aesthetics; it forges a deeper bond between players and the captivating universe of Genshin Impact, where the echoes of history resound and where every weapon carries the weight of a cherished story.

Alfonso Vidal
A Sage main whose strength grows every time an opponent gets tilted with funny Grim walls. One thing I can’t live without is the search bar because my writing process is just 20% brainstorming and 80% Googling synonyms. Also, I need to be able to know what my cat thinks of me at 2 AM. When the desk-bound lifestyle takes its toll on my back and eyes, you can find me IRL noodling bluesy licks or on long bike rides with friends.
