Two months after cutting ties with its former voice actor, HoYoverse is giving Tighnari a new voice this patch 3.6. The Chief Officer of the Forest Rangers will now be voiced by Zachary Gordon, an American film and voice actor who’s well-known for playing Greg Heffley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film series.

The news came last April 11, 2023, from Genshin Impact’s official social media pages, and the fanbase quickly praised the award-winning game for this move. Some even drew Tighnari with his best pal Cyno as characters in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid children’s book series, warmly welcoming Zachary to this fanbase who knows no shortage of memes.

Having been an actor since he was 8, Zachary Gordon has appeared in many popular films and TV programs such as How I Met Your Mother, 24, The Good Doctor, and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. He came to fame after landing the role of Gregory “Greg” Heffley, a middle-schooler who is the main protagonist of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid film adaptations.
His voice acting roles include Shichigoto’s adoptive son, Kotaro, in Afro Samurai: Resurrection and the baby version of the selfless giraffe Melman in Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. He also voiced an Imperial technician in the Star Wars Rebels TV show.
Zachary Gordon is not a new name in the video game industry either, as he already gave life to Hayner, the impulsive adventurer from Twilight Town in Kingdom Hearts III. Mafia: Definitive Edition is another video game he worked on.
He now voices Tighnari, Genshin Impact’s first-ever 5-star Dendro character.
Tighnari is an honest and straightforward botanist who graduated from the Sumeru Akademiya. As the leader of the Forest Rangers in Avidya Forest, he plays a major role in the Sumeru Arc by directing the Traveller to the Akademiya and fighting alongside Dehya to stop a Fatui scheme and rescue Lesser Lord Kusanali.
Given that Tighnari is still a fairly new character and we’re only in the third of seven nations, we’re excited to see how the character will grow with the help of his new voice actor.
