Genshin Impact Candace Guide

Candace’s kit mirrors her role as the Guardian of Aaru Village. She keeps the peace with her shield but won’t hesitate to wield her spear to shut down a threat. Her Elemental Burst introduces a “rule” with which you’ll unlock a new and rewarding way to conduct your team rotations, just like how she enforces Aaru Village’s rules. In this article, we’ll learn more about Candace’s play style, weapon and artifact choices, and possible team compositions.

How to play Candace

Genshin Impact Candace Character Archive

Candace brings a lot of different features to the team without focusing on one particular aspect. Her unique blend of support and DPS capabilities pushes Travelers to think more creatively when crafting team comps.

Her support capabilities come from her Elemental Burst, Sacred Rite: Wagtail’s Tide, which gives Hydro Infusion to sword, claymore, and polearm-wielding characters and a flat DMG bonus of 20%. It also lets you release a wave of Hydro damage every time you switch characters which makes for fun new rotations.

Her Elemental Skill makes her an interesting Sub-DPS pick as it packs her highest multiplier. What’s even more appealing is that it has the satisfying parry mechanic like in Beidou and Yunjin’s Elemental Skills, and a beautiful animation on top of that. To sum up, you’ll get the most value from a support/buffer build and an off-field sub-DPS build.

Artifacts

Sub-DPS build

Her Elemental Skill scales off of HP, so to maximize her nuke damage, you’d want a 2-piece Heart of Depth and a 2-piece Tenacity of the Millelith. Talent priority is Elemental Skill and Burst. You can leave out her Normal Attacks as it’s pretty slow, and it scales off of ATK.

Recommended:

  • 2-piece Heart of Depth: 15% Hydro DMG Bonus
  • 2-piece Tenacity of the Millelith: HP + 20%

Substitute:

  • 4-piece Emblem of Severed Fate: Energy Recharge + 20%, increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge.

Support build

Building triple HP sands, goblet, and circlet is the way to go since her A4 Passive, Celestial Dome of Sand, adds 0.5% Elemental DMG for every 1,000 points of Candace’s Max HP. To put it simply, a 30k-HP Candace adds around 15% more Elemental DMG on top of the flat 20% DMG Bonus team members get from her Ult.

Her Burst’s energy requirement is at the higher end with 60 points, so if you want to take advantage of its Hydro application, you’d like to get at least 130% Energy Recharge with your sub-stats and weapon.

Recommended:

  • 4-piece Tenacity of the Millelith: HP + 20%. When an Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the ATK of all party members is increased by 20%

Substitute:

  • 4-piece Noblesse Oblige: Elemental Burst DMG + 20%. Using an Elemental Burst increases party members’ ATK by 20% for 12 seconds.

Weapons

Sub-DPS role

The Staff of Homa gives a chunky 20% HP increase and a 66.2% Crit DMG increase. Blackcliff Pole is an excellent F2P option giving 55.1% at the max level.

Recommended:

  • Staff of Homa

Substitutes:

  • Blackcliff pole (F2P)
  • Deathmatch

Support role

Stacking HP with Black Tassel improves Candace’s buff. The Catch and Favonius Lance are good options, especially if you lack Energy Recharge.

Recommended:

  • Black Tassel

Substitutes:

  • The Catch
  • Favonius Lance

Team comps

Sub-DPS role

Candace National

  • Xingqiu – Main DPS
  • Candace – Sub-DPS/enabler
  • Xiangling – Sub-DPS/enabler
  • Bennett – Support

Since it’s common to build Xingqiu with a Hydro DMG goblet, he’ll easily take the helm of the main DPS here with Candace’s buffs. Bennett sustains the team with healing while also buffing team damage.

Hyperbloom

  • Candace
  • Dendro Traveler/Collei
  • Kuki Shinobu
  • Sucrose/Kazuha

Candace’s primary role here is to provide consistent Hydro application. The other 3 members can be built with EM as they’ll be the ones proccing Hyperbloom.

Support/buffer role

  • Kamisato Ayato
  • Candace
  • Yun Jin
  • Zhongli

Candace, Yun Jin, and Zhongli spoil Kamisato Ayato by buffing Elemental DMG, Normal Attack DMG, and Attack Speed. The double Hydro resonance also increases Candace’s support capabilities, while the double Geo resonance improves overall team damage.
