The long-awaited arrival of Fontaine is finally upon us with the release of Genshin Impact version 4.0! One of the highlights of the new update is the introduction of Lyney and Lynette, who are the brother-sister magician duo of Fontaine. For long-time players of the game, you may remember images of them being teased way back since the release of the game. Finally, they are here and ready to enchant you with their magic act as you enter the Court of Fontaine. In this guide, let’s focus on just one half of the duo–Lynette, the magician’s assistant. She’s a free character that comes along with the latest patch, she’s definitely someone you shouldn’t miss.
Who is Lynette?
Lynette is the ever-observant and quick-thinking magician’s assistant in the Court of Fontaine. She is one half of the wonder duo of Lyney and Lynette, who are Fontaine’s top entertainers due to their amazing magic performances. Despite being on stage all the time, Lynette is quite reserved and always keeps to herself, making her quite different from her two siblings, Lyney and Freminet.
Lynette’s disposition can be seen as the opposite of her brother, Lyney. Lyney has always been the showman and has a silver tongue capable of captivating audiences with his charm and charisma. Lynette, on the other hand, prefers to let her actions speak for her. She is a master of sleight of hand and illusions, and her attention to detail is unmatched.
The theme of Fontaine seems to imply that there’s more than meets the eye to the people, culture, and magic of the nation. This is reflected in Lynette’s character as well. While she may appear quiet and reserved on the surface, there is a hint of mystery and depth to her. When not on stage, her cat-like features go beyond her physical appearance, as she can be quite stealthy and agile, especially in combat. She is known for her exceptional sleight of hand and ability to manipulate objects with precision.
Abilities and Playstyle
Lynette is an Anemo sword user who utilises her cat-like agility and swift swordplay to deal damage to her enemies. She is one of the first characters introduced who possess Ousia-aligned attacks that will come in handy while fighting Mekas in Fontaine. Lynette’s kit is mainly focused on acting as a support for your team with her Swirl-based skills. Let’s break down her abilities:
Rapid Ritesword (Normal Attack): Lynette plunges from mid-air to the ground to deal AoE DMG to her enemies upon impact.
Enigmatic Feint (Elemental Skill): Pressing the skill allows Lynette to perform an Enigma Thrust, dealing Anemo DMG to the target. Holding the skill will make Lynette enter a shadow state, increasing her speed and gaining the ability to mark a single target. Pressing the skill again will make her perform the Enigma Thrust on the marked opponent. A maximum of one target can be marked with her Shadowsign.
Both uses of the skill will restore 25% of her max HP. However, after 4 seconds of skill usage, she will start losing 6% of her current HP per second. Also, her skill deals Ousia-aligned Anemo DMG, which can cause an annihilation effect when used against a Pneuma-aligned enemy.
Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift (Elemental Burst): Lynette summons a Bogglecat Box that will taunt nearby opponents. The area surrounding the Bogglecat Box deals Anemo DMG to all enemies within the area and continuously generates energy particles for Lynette. Her burst can also cause Swirl damage when combined with Hydro, Pyro, Cryo, and Electro attacks.
Sophisticated Synergy (1st Ascension Passive): If there are 1/2/3/4 Elemental Types within the party, all members’ ATK will receive an 8%/12%/16%/20% boost within 10 seconds of using Magic Trick: Astonishing Shift.
Props Positively Prepped (4th Ascension Passive): Once the Bogglecat Box performs Elemental Conversion, Lynette’s Elemental Burst inflicts 15% additional damage. This effect will last until the Bogglecat Box disappears.
Loci-Based Mnemonics (Utility Passive): This ability displays the positions of nearby Recovery Orbs on the minimap. Upon collecting these orbs, Lynette will receive a 25% increase in Aquatic Stamina and HP recovery.
Playstyle Tips
When playing as Lynette, here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Use Lynette’s Elemental Skill to group up enemies and apply the Swirl effect. This will allow you to trigger elemental reactions with other characters and deal additional damage.
- Utilise Lynette’s Elemental Burst for crowd control and to maximise your elemental reactions. This can disrupt enemy formations and give you an advantage in battle.
- Take advantage of Lynette’s passive talents to further boost your team’s damage. Building various elements will give you a damage boost from Lynette, which is something to consider when creating your team composition.
- Lynette is best used as a support unit to enhance the elemental reactions of her team. She is best paired with DPS units like her brother Lyney or other flex units like Xiangling or Fischl. This will allow you to maximise the damage output and take advantage of Lynette’s abilities.
Team Comp Recommendations
Lynette is quite a flexible Anemo support unit and pretty much fits in well with any team that requires a good Anemo user. If you have a team that has Kazuha, Sucrose, or Wanderer, then you can easily supplant them with Lynette if you need an Anemo support unit that can also manipulate Ousia energy.
Typical team comps like Xingqiu, Fischl, and Lynette paired with a Beidou main DPS can provide a strong mix of elemental reactions and damage output. Xingqiu can provide Hydro reactions with his Elemental Skill and Burst, while Fischl can provide Electro reactions with her Elemental Skill and Burst. Lynette can then use her Elemental Skill and Burst to swirl these elements and enhance the damage output.
For a more Pyro-focused team, you can go with Lyney as your DPS and pair him with Bennett for buffs and healing and Lynette for Swirl reactions. Throw in another Anemo or maybe a shielder like Zhongli, and you’ll have a solid team comp with good damage and high survivability.
Now, if you’re a fan of mono-element team comps, then a combo of Wanderer, Lynette, and Faruzan could work with Bennett as support. While this gives you limited elemental coverage, you’ll have quite a lot of fun juggling enemies with your Anemo abilities and creating powerful Swirl reactions.
Hyperbloom teams can also be quite effective in dealing high burst damage. Xingqiu and Nahida will take care of the bloom reactions, while Lynette and Fischl will take it up a notch and initiate Hyperbloom reactions for the team.
Weapon Choices for Lynette
Best 5-Star Support Weapon: Skyward Blade
- Base ATK: 608
- Energy Recharge: 55.1%
- Boosts Crit Rate, ATK SPD and Movement SPD while also boosting your Normal Attacks.
Best 4-Star Support Weapon: Sacrificial Sword
- Base ATK: 454
- Energy Recharge: 61.3%
- Allows Lynette to use her skill twice due to the sword’s high chance of resetting skill cooldowns.
Recommended Artifacts
As with most Anemo support units, the Viridescent Venerer set is a great choice for Lynette. This set provides a 15% Anemo damage bonus and increases Swirl damage by 60%. It also decreases the elemental resistance of enemies affected by Swirl by 40% for 10 seconds, making it easier for your team to deal more damage.
Another good option is the Noblesse Oblige set, which increases Elemental Burst damage by 20%. This set works well if you rely heavily on Lynette’s Burst for damage or if you want to boost the damage of your team’s Burst abilities.
Just make sure to prioritise Energy Recharge for the stats since Lynette relies on her Elemental Burst for damage and support. This will allow her to quickly charge her Burst and provide continuous support to the team. Crit Rate and ATK should be your next priority. While elemental mastery could help her Swirl reactions, her kit doesn’t really have any skills that scale well with this stat. You’re better off sticking with Energy Recharge, Crit Rate, and ATK for maximum damage output.
Overall, Lynette is a versatile support character with strong Anemo abilities and crowd-control potential. With the right weapons, artifacts, and team composition, she can greatly enhance your team’s damage output and utility in battle. So make sure to give her a try and see how she fits into your playstyle and team roster.
