The winds of Teyvat are shifting once again as Genshin Impact Version 6.2 swoops in with a fiery new character, powerful weapons infused with ancient rites, and events that take us from the volcanic lands of Natlan to the frostbitten peaks of Dragonspine. Whether you’re a veteran Traveler or someone who logs in mainly to farm Primogems, this update is stacked with things you absolutely don’t want to miss.
In this article, we’ll dive into the new banners, the new 5-star weapons designed for heavy hitters, and the two major events headlining Version 6.2. Let’s jump right in!
New Character: Durin
Durin finally steps out of the history books and into your party. Originally a dragon birthed by the Hexenzirkel witch Andersdotter, Durin is given a synthetic human form thanks to Albedo’s mastery of Khemia. Now fully integrated into Mondstadt society, he brings a kit that’s as complex as his origins.
After using his Elemental Skill, Durin can choose between two states: Denial of Darkness, which unleashes his ferocious side, enhancing Vaporize and Melt reactions and turning his Burst into a Pyro-charged attack; or Confirmation of Purity, which channels a more supportive persona, shredding enemy resistances and empowering allies. His Burst animation even changes depending on the state he’s in—elegant in light mode, or draconic and devastating in dark mode. Flexible, stylish, and extremely fun to optimize, Durin is poised to be one of the most adaptable Pyro units to date.
Joining him is the one and only Venti, Mondstadt’s cheekiest bard and Anemo Archon in disguise. Famous for ushering in the era of crowd-control supremacy, Venti remains one of the best units for exploring Teyvat and grouping enemies into one convenient (and very Swirl-able) ball. His Elemental Burst still shreds mobs, making him a top-tier choice for domains, overworld farming, or anything with lighter enemies. Venti’s playful personality and rich lore make his rerun a treat for new and returning players.
Both 5-stars will appear with 4-stars, Jahoda, Faruzan, and Bennett in Phase 1, which runs from December 3 to December 23, 2025.
Phase 1 Featured Characters:
5-Stars:
- Durin
- Venti
4-Stars:
- Jahoda
- Faruzan
- Bennett

New Weapons: Athame Artis and The Daybreak Chronicles
Athame Artis
With a base ATK of 608 and a sweet 33.1% Crit Rate, Athame Artis was forged for Burst-reliant sword users. Its passive increases the wielder’s Crit DMG from Burst attacks and grants Blade of the Daylight Hours, boosting ATK for both the user and nearby teammates. If your party carries Hexerei: Secret Rite effects, these buffs skyrocket, making it one of the strongest hybrid-support swords to date. Even better, many effects still trigger while the user is off-field, giving it enormous flexibility.
The Daybreak Chronicles
Boasting a massive 674 base ATK and 44.1% Crit DMG, this bow revolves around the ebb and flow of combat. Outside battle, it charges up huge damage bonuses; in battle, its bonuses decay, only to be recharged again by landing hits. This results in a dynamic cycle where proactive gameplay is rewarded with consistent high damage. And just like Athame Artis, Hexerei: Secret Rite supercharges its effects across all attack types, making it terrifying in the hands of quick-swap teams and rapid hitters.

New Events
Bing Bang Finchball
Natlan’s favorite pastime returns, and yes, the finches are still the cutest things in Teyvat. This revamped Finchball event revives its Paddle Pong-style gameplay, adding new mechanics that let Travelers control paddles on both sides of the table. Precision, timing, and creative ricochets are key as you bounce your Finchball to defeat opponents and rack up points. Finch Techniques spice things up even further, ensuring that this year’s iteration is the most dynamic version yet.
Soulblazer’s Snowbound Journey
The main event of Version 6.2 brings Travelers back to Dragonspine for a chilly relay race. Adventurers from across Teyvat, including Natlan’s fiery duo Varesa and Xilonen, have gathered to compete, but before the race begins, every participant must complete an intense multi-stage training program.
Training starts with Snowtrace, a frosty spin on Windtrace, where Hunters must track down Rebels, some of whom might be your familiar companions disguised as snowmen. The snowy terrain, sudden blizzards, and moving snowmen give this nostalgic mini-game a refreshing challenge.
Next is Frontier Recon, where Travelers morph into Saury-Saury Scouts and glide through aerial obstacle courses, collecting coins while getting familiar with race terrain. Once your flight skills are sharp, Jade Pitching puts your aim to the test with snowball-launching puzzles powered by special snowman effects. After that, Trial of Valor shifts into combat mode, letting you build teams enhanced by powerful Battle Souls that grant buffs and boost your score potential.
As you clear stages and rack up “Blazing Spirit,” you’ll unlock rewards, including the new 4-star weapon Rainbow Serpent’s Rain Bow and its refinements.
Version 6.2 delivers a fantastic mix of lore reveals, versatile characters, powerful gear, and minigames that span humor, challenge, and nostalgia.
