A Genshin Impact Currency Guide

Mora talks, and so do Primogems, Fates, and all the other mediums of exchange used in Teyvat. Genshin Impact features a rich line of currencies for purchasing valuable items, characters, and weapons during your adventure. Some of these currencies can be earned by completing quests and participating in limited-time events, while others can only be attained by funding your account with real money.

And although giving in to that second option and the game’s gacha aspect sounds so tempting, you should know that Travellers can go a long way just by learning how to earn and use the other currencies. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the different Genshin Impact currencies so you can spend whatever dough you have wisely.

Genshin Currency Guide Dori

Mora (Normal Currency)

Mora is the most common currency used in Genshin Impact. From its description, it’s the “one language that everybody speaks”. You’ll use Mora to purchase various items from vendors. You can also use them to craft items, upgrade Artifacts, and level up your character.

Genesis Crystals (Premium Currency)

Genesis Crystals are the premium currency in Genshin Impact. The only way to get them is by topping up using real-world money. You can access the Crystal Top-Up by scrolling the main menu and then going to the Shop. Buying the Blessing of the Welkin Moon also gives you 300 Genesis Crystals.

Genshin Impact Genesis Crystals

Genesis Crystals can be purchased in bundles of 60, 300, 980, 1,980, 3,280, and 6,480, and you’ll get a Double Crystal Bonus on your first purchase of each value. The price is based on your country’s currency, but in USD, prices are as follows:

  • $0.99 – 60 Genesis Crystals
  • $4.99 – 300 Genesis Crystals
  • $14.99 – 980 Genesis Crystals

Primogems

Primogems are a special currency, serving both as a premium and quest reward currency in Genshin Impact. This means you can earn them using real money (if you want to get more quickly) or by grinding and completing quests (free but in small amounts).

How to use Primogems

The most important use of Primogems is buying Fates for Wishes—both the Acquaint Fate and Intertwined Fate cost 160 Primogems per piece. You can also purchase Battle Pass levels for 150 Primogems each if you’re running behind schedule.

Acquaint Fate and Intertwined Fate (Wishing Currency)

Acquaint Fates and Intertwined Fates are the “wishing currencies” in Genshin Impact. Depending on the banner available, you can use Fates to acquire more powerful characters and weapons (or more stylish waifus and husbandos). Acquaint Fate is used for Standard and Beginners’ Wishes, while Intertwined Fate is good for Limited/Event Wishes.

Genshin Impact Fates

How to earn Fates

You can obtain Fates through events, Paimon’s Bargains, progressing your Adventure Rank, and, as mentioned earlier, Primogems. Just don’t forget to triple-check before you hit “Exchange” because you don’t want to be stuck with stacks of Acquaint Fates when you originally planned for a limited-time character or weapon.

Masterless Stardust and Masterless Starglitter

You can earn Masterless Stardust or Starglitter when you perform Wishes in Genshin Impact. Starglitter is acquired when you get a duplicate 4-star or 5-star character or weapon, while Stardust comes with 3-star weapons.

Genshin Impact Starglitter

Where to use Masterless Starglitter

  • Buying 4-star characters from the Shop via Paimon’s Bargains
  • Buying Acquaint or Intertwined Fates (5 Starglitters per Fate)
  • Buying rare weapons and materials
  • Buying Mora

Where to use Masterless Stardust

  • Buying 5 Acquaint Fates and 5 Intertwined Fates per month
  • Buying enhancement materials and Mora

Elemental Sigils (Regional Currency)

When you level up your Statues of the Seven, open chests, and interact with floating crates, you acquire regional Elemental Sigils. These sigils are used to buy materials and weapon billets from the region’s Souvenir Shop. You can also use them as offerings to trees like Inazuma’s Sacred Sakura and Sumeru’s Tree of Dreams. Currently, there are four kinds of Elemental Sigils in the game:

  • Anemo Sigil for Mondstadt
  • Geo Sigil for Liyue
  • Electro Sigil for Inazuma
  • Dendro Sigil for Sumeru
