Just when the meta was starting to settle, VALORANT V26 Act 4 arrives to shake things up  once again. From Sentinel buffs that make site executions far riskier to Summit—a brand-new map filled with dynamic terrain—and the fast-paced Retake game mode, there’s plenty for every type of player to explore. Whether you’re grinding Competitive or simply looking for your next favorite Agent, this update brings meaningful gameplay changes instead of flashy additions alone.

In this guide, we’ll break down the biggest Agent updates, explore how Summit could reshape the competitive meta, explain the new Retake mode, and help you prepare for everything V26 Act 4 has to offer.

Agent Updates

The biggest winners of the V26 Act 4 are undoubtedly the Sentinels. Riot Games has made it clear that they want reckless five-player rushes to be easier to punish, and these buffs reinforce the class’s identity as site anchors. Killjoy receives perhaps the strongest package of changes: her Turret fires 50% faster, Nanoswarm lingers for an extra second, and Alarmbot moves significantly quicker. Together, these improvements make her setups far deadlier and more reliable, especially when defending against coordinated executes. Cypher’s faster Trapwire activation also leaves attackers with less time to react, while Veto, Deadlock, and Sage all receive quality-of-life buffs that improve their defensive presence. Sage’s doubled self-heal, in particular, gives her more survivability during solo holds without dramatically affecting team sustain.

Meanwhile, Initiators regain some of the utility they lost in previous patches through reduced signature cooldowns. Agents like Sova, Fade, Skye, Breach, KAY/O, and Gekko can now gather information or support teammates more frequently during extended rounds, making late-round executions more dynamic. Riot also improved the audio clarity of Omen’s Shrouded Step to make his teleports easier to identify in chaotic fights, while updating several Agent voice lines to reduce audio clutter. Overall, the patch nudges the meta toward more tactical, information-driven gameplay, rewarding teams that coordinate their utility rather than relying solely on mechanical aim.

New Map: Summit

Summit is VALORANT’s newest battleground, set within a Radiant training academy nestled among the mountains of China. Like classic three-lane maps, it features two bomb sites connected by multiple pathways, but its defining mechanic is a set of droppable walls that permanently reshape the battlefield during a round. By destroying switches positioned around the map, players can collapse massive walls to cut off sightlines, eliminate utility, and even crush unsuspecting Agents beneath them. Combined with features like a rope ascender on B Site and a silent drop zone, Summit rewards teams that quickly adapt to changing terrain. Early on, expect coordinated teams to prioritize Mid control since controlling the central wall offers tremendous flexibility, while defenders should carefully time wall activations to isolate attackers or deny late-round rotations.

To help players learn the new map, Riot is introducing a Summit Launch Event that makes the map immediately available in Competitive. Better yet, Rank Rating (RR) losses on Summit are reduced by 50% for the first two weeks, while wins still grant full RR, making it the perfect opportunity to learn without worrying as much about your rank. Alongside Summit’s arrival, Sunset returns to the Competitive and Deathmatch map pools, while Fracture and Pearl rotate out, giving ranked play a fresh landscape to master.

New Limited-Time Mode: Retake

If your favorite part of VALORANT is the tense final seconds of a round, Retake might become your new go-to mode. This new limited-time 3v3 mode skips the early setup entirely by starting every round with the Spike already planted. One team defends the site while the other races against the clock to coordinate a successful retake, creating nonstop high-pressure engagements from the very first second.

Retake keeps matches fast and accessible through a streamlined format:

  • 3v3 matches on a single bomb site.
  • Teams alternate between defending the planted Spike and attempting the retake.
  • No economy system—each round, players choose from randomized loadout cards featuring weapons, armor, and ability charges.
  • The first team to win five rounds claims victory.
  • Matches take place on a randomly selected site from Ascent, Bind, Haven, Summit, or Sunset.

Because every round starts at the action, Retake is an excellent way to practice utility usage, clutch situations, crosshair placement, and communication without committing to a full Competitive match. It’s also a refreshing mode for warming up before diving into ranked games.

VALORANT V26 Act 4 doesn’t reinvent the game—it refines it. Stronger Sentinels encourage smarter site takes, Initiator cooldown buffs bring back more tactical utility, Summit introduces exciting new ways to control the map, and Retake offers a fresh way to enjoy VALORANT’s most adrenaline-filled moments. Whether you’re a veteran looking to optimize your strategies or a returning player eager to experience the latest content, this Act has something worth exploring.

Of course, no new Act is complete without fresh cosmetics, Battle Pass rewards, and premium bundles to collect.
