After two flagship banners and just a month and a half after release, HoYoverse brings us the first semi-major update in Honkai: Star Rail (HSR)! Our space adventure continues with Version 1.1 Galactic Roaming with the much-awaited release of the Stellaron Hunters’ resident hacking expert, Silver Wolf! With the new update, more side missions, events, and more characters are added to the game, providing players with even more content to explore and conquer. Let’s dive straight into what’s new in Honkai: Star Rail v1.1.
New Adventures and Companion Missions
Most players have probably reached the end of the first part of the Luocha storyline and are probably expecting a continuation of the campaign. However, we may have to wait a little longer for new story missions. Instead, we have a couple of new companion missions that will explore the individual storylines of certain characters like:
- Silver Wolf – Punklorde Mentality Storyline
- Luocha – A Knight Stranger Storyline
- Yanqing – Frost Blade’s Trial Storyline
- Bailu – Evanesce Like the Morning Dew Storyline
These amazing companion missions take players on unique and engaging journeys throughout the world of HSR. Playing through their side story missions will not only reveal more about their past and motivations but also give you more information on what to expect from them in combat and the upcoming main storyline quests. Plus, you can get them to appear around the Astral Express once you’ve completed their mission. Silver Wolf’s quest, in particular, takes you back to the Herta Space Station and a different perspective on the game’s opening cutscene. You also get to see Herta’s return and a new NPC exclusively in Silver Wolf’s story that will probably play a significant role in the game’s narrative.
New Character and Light Cone Banners
After the awesome turnout on Jing Yuan’s banner, players are looking forward to their first new Nihility and Quantum character in the form of Silver Wolf. We all had a very short glimpse of Silver Wolf’s abilities during the tutorial, but now you get to actually own the character and see her full potential in battle. Silver Wolf’s kit is quite unique as it focuses on debuffing enemies and applying new elemental weaknesses, making your team more effective in combat. Her hacking and video game-inspired theme also make her a fun addition to your team.
Silver Wolf’s banner runs from June 7 – June 28, giving you a chance to pull for her and some additional Eidolons for Asta, Dan Heng, and Serval. During the second phase of the character banner, you’ll get Luocha as the featured 5-star and boosted rates for Pela, Qingque, and the new 4-star Imaginary character, Yukong! You probably remember her during your arrival at the Xianzhou Luofu. Luocha’s banner will run from June 28 to July 18, so watch out for that.
For the light cone banners, of course, we have the featured 5-star light cones for both Silver Wolf and Luocha. So far, we only have a glimpse of all the light cones in Silver Wolf’s light cone banner. We have the Incessant Rain for Silver Wolf, which is one of the best-in-slot light cones in the game for her as well as the Echoes of the Coffin light cone for Luocha.
New Events and Game Modes
Version 1.1 also brings a couple of new events. If you think there aren’t that many events during Jing Yuan’s banner, well, you’re in for a treat. We have not one, not two, but seven new events to look forward to! Here’s a quick breakdown of all the new events from Phase 1 to Phase 2:
Starhunt Game (Event Runtime: 06/07/2023 – 06/19/2023)
Herta Space Station takes centerstage once again as you scour every corner of the ship looking for all the digital graffiti that Silver Wolf left during their attack at the game’s opening scenes. Completing the event will grant you the free 4-star light cone, Before the Tutorial Mission Starts. To unlock the event, you must be Trailblaze Level 21 and have initiated the Punklorde Mentality companion mission.
Everwinter City Museum Ledger of Curiosities (Event Runtime: 06/09/2023 – 06/26/2023)
After the events in Jarilo-VI, the Belobog History and Culture Museum is undergoing a thorough restoration and is set to open again for the public. Help Pela manage the museum and uncover the mystery of the missing exhibits! This new game mode lets you hire new staff, restore and retrieve artefacts, and manage the entire museum to make it a popular tourist attraction.
Stellar Flare (Event Runtime: 06/28/2023 – 07/10/2023)
Engage in combat against adversaries within a simulation akin to the Forgotten Hall. Every stage is characterized by a unique theme and mechanism, thus, you need to strategize in order to conquer the stages and earn exclusive rewards!
Garden of Plenty (Event Runtime: 07/10/2023 – 07/17/2023)
Tired of farming Calyxes and not getting enough materials and items for levelling up? The Garden of Plenty is a limited-time event that lets you farm Calyxes for double the rewards! You’ll only have a limited number of times to farm per day, so make sure to visit your Calyxes during the event!
Lab Assistants In Position (Event Runtime: 06/19/ 2023 – 07/03/20)
If you like gathering materials for your synthesizer, then this event is for you! Help Wen Shiling gather enough materials from the overworld monsters to earn rewards! All you have to do is roam around the overworld and defeat monsters to gather the required materials. The more materials you gather, the better the rewards you can earn!
Gift of Odyssey (Event Runtime: 06/07/2023 – 07/18/2023)
HoYoverse is giving us free Star Rail Passes during this seven-day login event! You can get up to 10 free passes during the event, so don’t miss out on this chance to save up for your favourite HSR characters.
Planar Fissure (Event Runtime: 06/23/2023 – 06/28/2023)
Planar ornaments can make or break your character’s build. That’s why HoYoverse is giving us limited double rewards when farming planar ornaments in the Simulated Universe! To participate, make sure you’ve cleared World 3 of the Simulated Universe and you have enough Trailblaze Power or Immersifiers to claim your rewards.
Enhanced Gameplay and Mechanics
Of course, the new update won’t be complete without a few quality-of-life improvements to the game. Here are a couple of changes to look forward to that will enhance your gameplay experience:
Enemy Tracker
Farming materials is easy enough in HSR, but hunting down those monsters that drop rare materials can be quite tedious and time-consuming. With version 1.1, however, we now have an enemy tracker on our map. Players now have the ability to track down opponents easier when farming for light cone materials and character ascension materials. All you have to do is view the item information of the particular material you’re looking for. Click the enemy source on the item information. Then, you’ll be immediately teleported to the area, and the enemy location will automatically be marked with a red icon on your map, making farming much more efficient.
New Chat Function
Any game is best enjoyed with friends. While we still don’t have any multiplayer function in HSR, we can now at least talk to our friends whenever we’re online with the new chat function! Just click on the chat icon in the lower-left corner of your screen to initiate a conversation with your friends.
Lost Trotters
You’re probably familiar with those rare Warp Trotters that you encounter in the game. They give a lot more materials than your average enemy, given that you defeat them in time. Well, looks like we’ll encounter them more often now with the introduction of the Lost Trotters. These little critters behave the same as your typical Warp Trotter. The only difference is that you won’t encounter them in the open world. They’ll just appear randomly during a battle, so keep your eyes peeled and be ready for a tougher fight!
