Genshin-Lyre-Notes-
If you’re looking for something new to do while waiting for the next major Genshin Impact update, and you’ve already tried
Genius Invokation TCG or furnished your Serenitea Pot fully, today is your lucky day because we’re teaching you how to play the Windsong Lyre!

The Windsong Lyre is a gadget Travellers can use to play music. It was given as a reward in the Ballads of Breeze event, a rhythm game that came with the first Windblume Festival update. New and returning players can purchase the Windsong Lyre from Marjorie in Mondstadt for 150,000 Mora.

How to play the Windsong Lyre

The Windsong Lyre has 21 notes ranging from C3 to B5. It only features natural notes (the white keys on a piano) and has no sharps or flats (black keys). You can play the notes simultaneously, but like in a real lyre, sustaining the notes is impossible.

On PC, the keys are intuitively mapped onto the letters Z to M, A to J, and Q to U. You can also play individual notes by clicking with a mouse. On PlayStation, only one row of notes can be played at a time, with L1 and R1 being used to switch to the other octaves. The seven notes are mapped onto the left, up, right, down, square, triangle, and circle buttons, respectively.

What songs can I play with the Windsong Lyre?

For starters, songs in the C Major Scale like “Let It Be” by The Beatles and “Don’t Look Back In Anger” by Oasis will sound perfectly well on the Windsong Lyre. Nursery rhymes like “Mary Had A Little Lamb” and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” will sound good on it, too. Now, for some workarounds to the gadget’s lack of sharps and flats, let’s get to the nerdy stuff.

Simple songs in any major key can also be played on it, but you first need to transpose it to the key of C. If you want to play something sad or ominous with a minor key, you can pick songs in A minor, as it’s the relative minor of C, meaning they share the same notes. You just have to play it a little bit differently by landing on the As more. Try “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers!

Other instruments to try

Each of Teyvat’s regions has unique soundscapes that inspire Travellers to play in different ways. Luckily, we can get a local instrument from every region to add more depth to our cultural immersion. To unlock the following gadgets, visit the Souvenir Shop.

  • Floral Zither (Liyue): covers the same range as Windsong Lyre but with a different timbre.
  • Festive Drum (Inazuma): features two drums with the “ka” and “don” sounds.
  • Vintage Lyre (Sumeru): houses the C Dorian and C Phrygian scales. Can play most of the Sumeru soundtrack.

Final thoughts

Besides giving Travellers a new challenge and a fun pastime, the Windsong Lyre and the other instruments are a welcome addition to the game, as they give players a new channel of self-expression. The gadget also highlights musically-inclined players by allowing them to showcase their hard-earned talents. What regional instruments do you want to see in the game next?
